“God will judge, not because God gives people what they deserve, but because some people refuse to revieve what no one deserves; if evildoers experience God’s terror, it will not be because they have done evil, but because they have resisted to the end the powerful lure of the open arms of Jesus”

You are judged for refusing God's gracious judgement on humanity in Christ? I am both attracted to and yet puzzled by this line or argument. I can't work out if it is profound or simply confused.
Fair enough. I find it appealing and confusing too. The only way I can figure it is if God is most utterly God in his gracious judgement, then rejecting that judgement is the most utter rejection of God. Volf of couse ties the acceptance of that judgement to following after Christ in forgiving others
